Mental health is improved in children who consume more fruits and vegetables

According to a recent research, children who eat a healthier diet rich in fruits and vegetables have better mental health. The University of East Anglia (UEA) Health and Social Care Partners led the research, which was carried out in conjunction with Norfolk County Council. The study’s results were published in the British Medical Publication’s journal ‘BMJ Nutrition Prevention and Health’. This is the first research to look at the link between fruit and vegetable consumption, breakfast and lunch choices, and mental health among UK students. It demonstrates how eating more fruits and vegetables is related to improved well-being, particularly among secondary school students. Children who ate five or more pieces of fruits and vegetables per day had the best mental health ratings. According to the researchers, public health initiatives and school policies should be established to guarantee that all children have access to high-quality nourishment before and throughout school to improve mental wellness and enable children to reach their full potential.
